Why Lucky Is Tequila? 100% Agave, Botanical, and Legally Tequila

Why we are tequila and can we be called tequila

Let’s be very clear.

Lucky Stash is tequila.

Why Lucky Is Tequila

Why Lucky is tequila is a question we hear often, especially because Lucky looks, tastes, and behaves differently from what most people expect. The answer is simple: Lucky starts with 100% agave tequila blanco, produced in Mexico and crafted according to the legal and cultural standards that define real tequila. Lucky doesn’t become different by taking things away, it becomes different by what we intentionally add.

What Defines Tequila, Legally and Culturally

Mexican law and tradition define what can be called tequila. The Denomination of Origin Tequila (DOT) establishes these standards, while the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT) enforces them.

To qualify as tequila, a spirit must:

  • Come from designated regions of Mexico
  • Use blue Weber agave as its base
  • Follow approved tequila distillation processes

Lucky meets every one of these requirements.

100% Agave Blanco: The Foundation of Lucky

Lucky starts exactly where tequila starts: at the agave.
We use 100% agave tequila blanco, chosen for its clarity, structure, and ability to express terroir. Blanco tequila is the purest expression of agave: unaged, direct, and honest.

This base allows Lucky to remain unmistakably tequila, even as it evolves into something more complex.

Why Lucky is tequila: made from 100% agave blanco, legally tequila.

Botanicals Don’t Cancel Tequila: They Build on It

After distillation, Lucky is infused with 27 carefully selected botanicals, including citrus peels, roots, woods, herbs, and spices. This happens after the tequila is already tequila.

The infusion does not replace agave.
It enhances it.

This is why Lucky is not a gin, not a liqueur, and not a flavored spirit. It remains tequila, with a botanical architecture layered on top.

Why Lucky Still Deserves the Name Tequila

The question isn’t whether Lucky is tequila.
The question is whether tequila is allowed to evolve.

Lucky respects:

  • Agave
  • Mexican heritage
  • Legal tequila standards

But it also believes tradition is not static. By starting with tequila blanco and carefully infusing botanicals, Lucky stays rooted in tequila while pushing its boundaries forward.

That’s why Lucky is tequila, just not the one you’re used to.
